Get richer open-ended answers with voice input
Participants can dictate open-ended responses instead of typing, making detailed answers easier to provide and helping useful qualitative feedback come in with less friction.
Open-ended research is most useful when participants can explain what they really think.
Typing a detailed response can add friction, especially on mobile or when an answer is easier to explain out loud.
Voice input gives participants another way to answer open-ended questions. They can dictate a response when speaking is more natural than typing it manually.
The research question stays exactly the same. Voice input simply removes some of the effort involved in entering a longer qualitative response.
Less participant friction helps useful feedback reach the study more easily. The goal is the same one behind many participant-experience improvements: collect high-quality human responses as efficiently as possible.
