People look for UserTesting alternatives for three reasons. The price, because UserTesting sells custom-quoted plans with no public price list. The job, because they need something UserTesting wasn't built for. Or the shape of the company, which has changed a lot in 2026.
Here's the short version of what changed, then the alternatives sorted by the job you actually need done, including where my own company, Wynter, fits and where it doesn't.
So if you were using User Interviews to avoid UserTesting, that option now sits inside the same company.
| If you need to... | Look at |
|---|---|
| Run unmoderated usability tests on prototypes, cheaper | Maze, Lyssna |
| Run quick preference, first-click or five-second tests | Lyssna |
| Watch real visitors on your live site | Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity |
| Recruit B2B professionals for your own interviews | Respondent |
| Run full usability studies with a panel, outside the Auros group | Userlytics |
| Hear verified B2B buyers judge your messaging, positioning or ads | Wynter |
Maze is built for product and design teams testing prototypes and live flows without a moderator. It plugs into design tools, runs task-based tests and reports success rates and paths. It has a participant panel of 5 million+ people, with demographic filters (Maze).
Pick it if your work is mostly usability on prototypes and you want something lighter than an enterprise UserTesting contract. Skip it if you need verified senior B2B buyers rather than general users.
Lyssna (formerly UsabilityHub) is the fast, cheap option for preference tests, five-second tests, first-click tests and short surveys. There's a free plan, a Growth plan listed at $166 a month, and a panel of 690,000+ participants priced per response (Lyssna).
Pick it if you want quick reads on designs and layouts with a general audience. Skip it if your audience is senior B2B roles that a general panel can't verify.
Not testing platforms in the UserTesting sense, but they answer a question many teams use UserTesting for: what are real visitors doing on the page? Heatmaps and session recordings show where people click, scroll and get stuck. Clarity is free.
Pick it if the page already has traffic and you want to see real behavior. Skip it if you need to know why, or you're testing something that isn't live yet.
Respondent is a recruiting marketplace. You write a screener, it finds professionals, and you run the interviews or tests yourself in your own tools. Pay-as-you-go pricing is $80 per moderated B2B session and $40 per unmoderated B2B session, plus the incentives you set (Respondent).
Pick it if you need one-on-one interviews with specific professionals and you're happy to moderate. Skip it if you want the research done for you, or need a fast quantitative read.
Userlytics is a remote usability testing platform with moderated and unmoderated tests and its own participant panel, so it's the closest like-for-like alternative to UserTesting's core product.
Pick it if you want the same kind of usability program from a different vendor. Skip it if your research questions are about messaging and buying, not usability.
This is us. Wynter isn't a usability tool. It's a market research platform for B2B tech marketers. You show your homepage, ad or positioning to verified B2B professionals who match your target buyer, and they tell you what's clear, what's confusing and what they don't believe. You can also run preference tests, ICP surveys, brand tracking and interviews on the same panel of 86,000+ verified professionals. Most results come back in 12 to 48 hours.
Pick it if the question is "does our message work on the people we sell to?" Skip it if you need to watch someone use a product or prototype. Wynter doesn't do usability testing or session recordings, and its panel is B2B only. Our Wynter vs UserTesting page goes deeper.
| Tool | Best for | Participants | How you pay | B2B fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UserTesting | Enterprise experience research: usability, prototypes, recorded sessions | Auros network, with B2B through Advanced Targeting | Custom quote, no public price list | Good, at enterprise prices |
| Maze | Unmoderated usability on prototypes | 5M+ panel with demographic filters | Plans, panel limits by plan | General audiences |
| Lyssna | Preference, first-click and five-second tests | 690K+ panel | Free plan, Growth plan, panel billed per response | General audiences |
| Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity | Real visitor behavior on live pages | Your own visitors | Free to paid plans | Needs traffic |
| Respondent | Recruiting professionals for your own interviews | Professionals recruited per study | Per completed session, plus incentives | Strong for interviews |
| Userlytics | Usability testing, moderated and unmoderated | Own panel | Plans and per-test pricing | General audiences |
| Wynter | Message tests, preference tests, ICP surveys with verified B2B buyers | 86,000+ verified B2B professionals | Pay-as-you-go from $899 per test, or annual plans | Built for B2B tech |
If you run an enterprise experience research program across design, UX and product, need recorded sessions and live conversations at scale, and have the budget, UserTesting is still one of the most complete platforms, and Advanced Targeting closes some of its old B2B gaps. Switching makes the most sense when you're paying for a platform but only using one slice of it.
What are the best UserTesting alternatives? It depends on the job. Maze and Lyssna for cheaper unmoderated and design testing, Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity for live-site behavior, Respondent for recruiting professionals for interviews, Userlytics for full usability testing outside the Auros group, and Wynter for testing B2B messaging with verified buyers.
Is User Interviews part of UserTesting? Yes. UserTesting acquired User Interviews in January 2026, and in September 2026 the parent company rebranded as Auros, with UserTesting and User Interviews continuing as product brands.
How much does UserTesting cost? UserTesting doesn't publish prices. Plans are sold on a custom quote, and Advanced Targeting recruitment is paid from a prepaid balance.
What is a cheaper alternative to UserTesting? For design and usability testing, Lyssna has a free plan and Maze has self-serve plans. Microsoft Clarity is free for live-site recordings. For B2B message testing, Wynter's pay-as-you-go tests start at $899.
Can I test B2B messaging on UserTesting? You can, using its B2B targeting, but it's built for experience research. If the question is whether your messaging is clear and convincing to a specific B2B buyer, a message testing platform built for B2B is usually faster and cheaper.
